The site enjoys a prime location in the town of Lipjan, close to Kosovo’s capital, Pristina. Its unusual shape made the plot a major challenge for the design. The plot is bordered by streets on three sides, and an old, uninhabitable neighbouring building stands close to the boundary on one side. The aim was to calm this restless setting through geometry. The shape of the plot suggested a circle, and from the circle a regular grid was developed. This form makes optimal use of the plot and of sunlight while ensuring privacy. Because the balconies are cut into the building volume, each one is scr

Architecture, Client: Mr. Limolli, Floor area: 335 m², Under construction
Mr Limolli wants to spend the rest of his life in a quiet neighbourhood. Three years ago he bought the plot to realise one of the biggest investments of his life here. The old house, cracked all over, is now gone, clearing the way for the new building. “I want the car close to me, as part of my home. The living room is very important to me, and I love it when it is large. The kitchen and dining area should not be separated from the living room. When I am old and can no longer climb stairs, I need to be able to sleep on the ground floor.” So said Mr Limolli in the course of our conversation. Fr

Modular Refugee Housing
Suitable for almost anywhere
Study / Proposal
The world changes every day. Wars destroy people’s dreams and turn them into refugees. Their entire living environment changes, and most of them leave their homeland. The Modular Refugee Housing project was designed after a careful analysis of the difficult living conditions of refugees. The concept fully meets the standards of the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. The shelters are designed so that refugees can live in them temporarily for up to four years. The design takes into account all UNHCR standards and recommendations and rests on three main aspects: the environment, the structure and the

Architecture, Client: Mr. Berisha, Floor area: 730 m², Proposal
The project comprises an office and showroom building as the head of a warehouse in a commercial zone on the regional road R120. The two-storey volume marks the entrance to the site and gives the functional commercial complex a face of its own. Space for a second hall is already reserved on the plot, so the facility can be extended step by step. The defining element is the pair of offset mono-pitch roofs. The step in height between them is used as a band of clerestory windows that brings daylight deep into the building. On the ground floor, the showroom and meeting space opens onto the forecou
Services
Architecture
We design buildings from the first sketch to the finished construction, with attention to every detail: how materials meet, how they are joined, how each part works with the whole. Materials are chosen carefully for their purpose, the climate, the location and the budget. We use every budget wisely, so that the client’s investment goes where it matters and nothing is wasted.
Project management
We guide projects through every phase: planning, permits, tendering and construction. We coordinate consultants, contractors and authorities, and keep cost, time and quality under control. From the first idea to the finished project, with one point of contact.
Renovation
We also renovate existing buildings and apartments, with care and respect for what is already there. Every renovation starts with a careful survey of the existing structure. We keep what is valuable and improve what is needed: the layout, insulation, installations and finishes. The work is planned so that disruption stays low, and existing spaces gain a new, lasting quality.
Interior design
We design interiors as a continuation of the architecture. Space, light, materials and furniture are considered together, down to the detail. Simple, functional rooms made to be lived in.
About
Manom Architects L.L.C was founded by architect Hazbi Kryeziu. He holds a Master of Science degree in Architecture and Spatial Planning and also studied at the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur, Switzerland.
After working at Theo Hotz Partner Architekten in Zurich, he worked on several other projects before opening his own studio, Manom Architects L.L.C.
The studio’s philosophy is reflected directly in its name: in traditional Albanian usage, “ma nom” means to do something better. That is what every project strives for: better buildings, better spaces, better cities.
